Budget conscious Personal Computers in rural India
Marketing personal computers for less than 10,000 rupees
India has earned a reputation worldwide for providing software and computer support services to some of the largest companies in the world. The country has more than 64 million cellphone users. But Personal computer use is still low in India, even though sales jumped about 20 percent in the year to March 2005. India's technology minister said during the same year that the government wants the number of personal computers to swell to 50 million and has wooed companies to the country to reach the goal. We plan to market a low cost, ready-to-use computers which uses the open-source Linux operating system, in the Southern Indian states by December of 2007.
